Counselor’s Corner

Hi, my name is Kaythern Espinoza, and I am thrilled to be the counselor at Heritage. Many factors impact how a kiddo interacts, and reacts within an environment. We are all important in helping them be successful, and I am excited to get to know the kids and support them on their journey.

Through responsive services I work with students whose personal circumstances, or concerns are threatening to interfere with their healthy academic and personal/social development.

Some of the topics I help with are:                     

Self-esteem Stress Grief and Loss Bullying Study Skills Goal Setting

Anger Depression Taking Tests Social Skills Conflict Resolution Anxiety

Safety is important at our school. We teach our students to use the “Stop, Walk and Talk” strategy when they are being treated unkindly, or if they are being bullied. Students can do their part in helping us to have safety at school by following those steps.

We work hard to create an environment that is mindful and optimal for learning. To support this, we have identified the following school wide rules:

• Be Respectful
• Be Responsible
• Be Safe  

The students are familiar with these rules and practice them in common areas as well as inside of the classroom. When you visit our school, you will notice that these rules are posted on the walls. We encourage you to discuss these rules with your student as well.
